The EBU acquires a variety of sports rights on behalf of its Members, including the Tour de France, the FIS World Alpine and Nordic Skiing Championships, and the World Athletics Championships. The ability to establish a direct relationship with Member broadcasters and reach the widest possible audience in all Eurovision territories with one single contractual agreement, are key reasons why the international sports federations maintain their longstanding relationships with the EBU.

Another major activity is the coordination of sports transmissions. Eurovision’s success in this field is demonstrated by the number of broadcasters and other players who turn to Eurovision for the transmission of European and world events such as the winter and summer Olympic Games, the FIFA World Cup, the Roland Garros International Tennis Championships, and many other major events.
